An Update on Local Infrastructure Projects

Dear Neighbor,

Before I update you on Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding heading to our community, I want to let you know that I am working with our local agencies on the passenger rail closure in San Clemente and will do everything possible to help address the short- and long-term challenges along the LOSSAN the rail corridor.

Coastal erosion has destabilized portions of the LOSSAN rail corridor and jeopardized billions in economic activity. I secured $11.6 million in federal funding for SANDAG and the North County Transit District to help stabilize the eroding coastal bluffs in Del Mar, and more than $30 million to address erosion in Encinitas and Solana Beach.

Last week I joined SANDAG and California state officials in Del Mar to announce an additional $300 million dollars in funding to move the LOSSAN tracks inland. This new funding will help move the tracks away from the bluffs. This funding, along with the federal funding I secured, is a positive step to ensuring the safety and longevity of this rail corridor.

ImageI'm glad we've started delivering overdue federal investments to address coastal erosion threatening the railway, and I will continue to fight to deliver more funding for this important project.

While we have much more to do, here's an update on my efforts to advance other infrastructure projects here in CA-49.

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
I'm very proud that I helped secure more than $90 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for our communities.

I voted to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law because I knew it would deliver desperately-needed investments in our local infrastructure priorities, and I am excited to see that coming to fruition.

Here are two projects in our community that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is funding!

New San Luis Rey River Bridge
$27.3 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is on its way to the City of Oceanside and SANDAG to replace the 100-year-old San Luis Rey River Bridge, which will help reduce delays, increase train speeds, and shorten trip times.

I recently announced the news and presented a check for the project, and I look forward to seeing this important project move forward for our community!

$30.5 Million for Solana Beach Coastal Storm Damage Reduction Project

The City of Solana Beach is receiving $30.5 million I secured in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for the Encinitas-Solana Beach Coastal Storm Damage Reduction Project.

This much-needed funding will allow us to put 700,000 cubic yards of sand on our beach, which will reduce storm damage, improve safety, and expand recreational benefits for the public. This is exciting progress for everyone who enjoys our local beaches!
