Rep. Levin Honors Gabriela Hooshmand as March 2024 Constituent of the Month
In Honor of Women’s History Month, Gabriela Hooshmand Selected for Outstanding Service to the North San Diego County Community
Oceanside, CA - Today, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) announced Gabriela Hooshmand as his March 2024 Constituent of the Month. Ms. Hooshmand is the President & Co-founder of MANA de North County San Diego, a 501(c)(3) which she helped establish in 2009. Since its inception, the organization has been dedicated to empowering Latinas to pursue their goals.

MANA de North County San Diego’s mentorship program, the Hermanitas Program, connects student skills and passions to a potential career path. Ms. Hooshmand has introduced direct instruction after school for teenage girls, aligning the Hermanitas curriculum with the school calendar. This program matches “hermanitas” with mentors to boost the student’s GPA’s, confidence, and involvement in community and school.

“M. Speaker, during Women’s History Month, it is my great honor to recognize a leading figure in the Oceanside community, Gabriela Hooshmand, as my Constituent of the Month for March 2024.
“Gabriela is the current President & Co-founder of MANA de North County San Diego and has contributed over fifteen years to the organization, which aims to empower Latinas to be involved in community service, develop their leadership skills, and advocate for themselves.
“MANA de North County San Diego’s Hermanitas Program matches students’ skills and passions to a career path. Gabriela’s introduction of this program has been instrumental in the betterment of my district’s youth, especially for young Latinas. Carlsbad Unified School District, Oceanside Unified School District, Vista Unified School District, and Vista Charter Public Schools all participate in this unique national youth mentoring program for Latinas.
