Rep. Mike Levin Honors Retired Army Maj. Gen. Peggy C. Combs as Constituent of the Month

Oceanside, CA – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) announced that retired Army Maj. Gen. Peggy C. Combs, President of the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, is the October Constituent of the Month.

This month, Army Maj. Gen. Combs became the 16th President and the first woman to head the 112-year-old Army and Navy Academy. The Academy is a college preparatory boarding school serving boys in grades 7 through 12.

President Combs’s esteemed military career started through the ROTC program at Syracuse University and spanned 33 years. She served in leadership capacities both in the U.S. and abroad, including as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Cadet Command based at Fort Knox. While in this position, Army Maj. Gen. Combs oversaw ROTC programs for 1,800 high school and college campuses while also commanding Fort Knox. Before she retired in 2018, she was serving as Chief of Staff and Executive Director of the U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado Springs.

As President, Maj. Gen. Combs works with community members to create opportunities for young people and inspire them to serve our country. She helps conduct outreach and education efforts to local colleges, as well as providing role models for students.
