Hosted Federal Railroad Administrator

In April, I hosted Federal Railroad Administrator Bose in the district to tour the LOSSAN Corridor and see first-hand the transportation challenges. I will continue to fight for federal resources to relocate the railroad tracks and ensure that the Corridor is protected for years to come.

April Telephone Town Hall

During the April Telephone Town Hall, I had a fruitful discussion with constituents about my efforts to collaborate with members across the aisle to pass legislation that addresses critical issues such as preventing gun violence, reauthorizing the Farm Bill to aid local farmers, reducing greenhouse emissions, making progress on removing spent nuclear fuel from San Onofre, and improving our immigration system. I would like to express my gratitude to all who participated, and I look forward to the next one.

Check out the April Telephone Town Hall here.

Address Spent Nuclear Fuel at San Onofre

The Department of Energy has released a new report on spent nuclear fuel.

This news is the result of a years-long process to restart consent-based siting and lays out a clear plan to remove the nuclear waste from San Onofre. My full statement is available here and read my oped in the San Diego Union Tribune here

Increase Clean Energy Production

As co-chairs of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition’s Clean Energy Deployment Task Force, Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06) and I are proud to announce our Clean Electricity and Transmission Acceleration Act — which builds on the Inflation Reduction Act and lays out the policies needed to build transmission and deploy clean energy as rapidly and equitably as possible across the U.S.

Protect Our Regional Water Systems

I was recently in Encinitas for a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the opening of Olivenhain Municipal Water District's new pipeline! I was proud to secure over $17 million in federal funding for OMWD to maximize water reuse in the North San Diego area by creating a regional water reuse system.

ImageImagePrevent Family Fire Act

Gun violence is the leading cause of death for kids in the U.S. If we expand safe gun storage, we can reduce unintentional shootings by 73%. It’s that simple.

That's why I introduced the Prevent Family Fire Act to incentivize the sale of safe storage devices for firearms and reduce gun violence. Read more about the Prevent Family Fire Act, here.
